2012 SEASON APPLICATION INFORMATION
Welcome to the 2012 Iowa City Boys Baseball season. We have begun planning to ensure that it will be our best. Please be sure to read all of the information carefully as some changes have been made.
The application fee (prior to February 27th) this year is $75 (which includes $50 registration fee plus a $25 fund raising amount) per player. Beginning February 28th the application fee will increase to $85. Please sign up today! This provides each player a game shirt, cap, and insurance coverage for practice times as well as games. Players will have the chance to play in up to 20 regular season games in a fun, educational, yet competitive environment. A Clinic hosted by DIAMOND DREAMS Sports Academy will also be included for players and coaches. Also this season we will have an end of the season championship tournament which will be held on Saturday June 23rd and Sunday June 24th. There will be no admission charged for this tournament and each team is guaranteed at least 3 games. There simply isn’t a better value around!
For the $25 fund raising amount each player will receive 5 Hy-Vee coupon books. Each player can sell the coupon books for $5 each to recoup their $25 fund raising amount or the player’s family can use the coupon books. Each book has coupons valued at $60 and in fact the very first coupon in each book provides a $5 coupon when you purchase groceries of $50 or more. The books are easy to sell and provide ICBB with essential funding.
Any child who reaches his/her 6th birthday on or before April 30, 2012, and does not reach his/her 13th birthday by April 30, 2012, is eligible to participate. If a copy of a player’s birth certificate has not been previously provided to ICBB, a copy must be attached to the application. Players are divided into 4 groups and play 2 games one week and 3 games the next week.
AGE 6 - INSTRUCTIONAL
AGES 7 and 8 - PITCHING MACHINE
AGES 9 and 10 - JUNIOR DIVISION
AGES 11 and 12 - SENIOR DIVISION
Players should be notified of their teams by Saturday, March 24th and practices start on or shortly after Monday, April 2nd. Team rosters, rules, and practice schedules will be provided to managers and coaches Wednesday evening, March 21st. The season starts on April 30th/May 1st. All games will be played at the Bobby Oldis Fields at the west end of Lower City Park in Iowa City. Game times will be at 5:30 pm and 7:00pm. Games that are rained out will not be rescheduled.
